Comb-pattern Pottery

The representative type of ceramics from the Korean Neolithic period is comb-pattern pottery, which is named for its geometric patterns of dots and lines. Different examples of such patterns can be seen in the bands around the mouth, body, and base of these V-shaped vessels. Neolithic people lived in deep harmony with nature, and the various geometric patterns that appear on comb-pattern pottery are believed to be an abstract expression of the natural environment. These patterns provide valuable insights about the spatial perception, aesthetic sense, and mental sophistication of the Neolithic people.
