    An Angbu-ilgu, a Hemispherical Sundial From the Joseon Dynasty 1 min. Every hour, 30 minutes A sundial created during the Joseon Dynasty and housed in the National Museum of Korea collection is recreated digitally to provide real-time information about the time, the temperature, the level of fine dust in the atmosphere, and the “solar term,” a system that divides the year into 24 roughly equal periods based on the angle of the sun.
    Time Shines with Every Color 2 mins. 1st and 31th minutes of every hour The unique colors and materials derived from the museum’s fine collection of artworks are reinterpreted in the form of visual media to signify the value of constantly evolving and expanding the museum’s cultural and symbolic heritage.

    5 mins. 8th, 18th, 38th, and 48th minute of every hour This video uses exhibits from the National Museum of Korea’s extensive collection to document the history and value of movable type printing presses as they existed in the Joseon Dynasty. You can use your mobile phone to send a message which will appear on our digital signs in real time. This interactive feature links visitors’ personal experiences to collective ones and shows how important moveable type was for the development of open communications.
