Precious Mirror for Succeeding Reigns

King Sejong was Joseon’s fourth monarch, who caused Korea to enjoy an unparalleled expanse of culture and the arts. King Sejong was enthroned with King Taejong (r. 1400-1418) ’s great trust and senior statesmen’s entreaties. Under his rule, the royal academy invented the Korean alphabet or Hunminjeongeum. Sejong’s monarch marked a “Goledn age” in Korean history.
