Chest with Four Tiers with Ox-horn Ornament in Auspicious Animals and Flowers Design

Sheets of ox-horn ornament are attached to the front of this chest. Peonies, lotuses, plum blossoms, and magnolias are painted on the long horizontal sheets, and auspicious animals such as phoenixes, deer, tigers, and cranes are painted on the square-shaped sheets. Cranes, pheasants, and turtles are decorated in the center of the door plate. The artisan attached thin cow bones around the edges of the door. The butterfly-shaped brass hinges are beautiful. This is a four-tiered chest from a relatively early period, and it is a precious piece of furniture with splendid and delicate ox-horn decorations.
