Black Burnished Pottery
Black burnished pottery was made with fine clay, coated with slip made from minerals (such as graphite), and then finely polished to produce a shiny surface. Many black burnished vessels have tall necks and some also have horn-shaped handles attached. The earliest examples were found in burials located in present-day China, which also contained Liaoning-type bronze daggers. Although most black burnished pottery has been recovered from burial sites, some has also been found at dwelling sites.
