Celadon Bowl with Peony with inlaid design

This bowl was recovered together with eleven other celadon vessels from Jireung, the royal tomb of King Myeongjong (r. 1170–1197), the 19th ruler of the Goryeo dynasty. The celadon uncovered from this tomb serves as a standard for ascertaining the quality of the celadon
that was used at the Goryeo royal court. There is a record in the History of Goryeo (Goryeo sa) stating that the tomb was constructed in 1202 and recontructed in 1255.
