Celadon coated with black-hued glaze

Ceramic vessels coated with a black-hued glaze are often known as black-glazed ware. These pieces are characterized by the use of a glaze with a high iron oxide content and in this way are connected to wares coated with iron-brown underglaze. However, the latter display a dark brown hue while black-glazed wares present a black color.
