This ewer was elaborately modeled after a human figure. The clothing, crown decorated with bonghwang (a pair of mythical birds), and peach held in the neatly cupped hands suggest that the figure is a Daoist priest or even the legendary Xiwangmu (Queen Mother of the West). According to mythology, Xiwangmu lived in a palace at the top of the Kunlun Mountain where she presided over immortality and the realm of the immortals.
