This is a copy of an astronomical chart that shows constellations engraved in stone. The North Pole is put in the center of the constellation picture. The equator is placed between the ecliptic (the orbit along which the sun appears to move as viewed from the earth) and the South and North Poles. All the stars that can be observed with the naked eye are put together, for a total of 1,464 stars (marked with dots).
