This dining table is called a banwolban (literally meaning a “half-moon tray table”) in Korean. As its name suggests, it is a tray table with the top taking the shape of a half moon. It was used as a side tray or as an extra leaf that could be placed on either side of a square or rectangular table in order to extend it. The table top is supported by three rectangular panels fixed to each other by “cloud carvings”. Each panel leg is decorated with incised sweet sedge flowers.
