The majority of white porcelain ritual vessels are devoid of patterns; however, starting from the 17th century, bowls and dishes were made with the character “je” (祭, sacrificial rite) inscribed on the bottom. This dish is one of them, and bears the character 祭 written in cobalt blue underglaze on the inside bottom.
