This folding screen features images of various flowers, birds, animals, and fish. In the screen, Jang Seung-eop skillfully painted this subject matter with bold brushstrokes soaked with ink and light colors. The trees and rocks are presented in rough strokes, whereas the flowers, including peonies, roses, and daffodils, are outlined and colored. Jang was active at the end of the Joseon period, but not much is known about his life. It has been said that he was a man of vigorous spirit, skilled at painting varied topics, and once worked as a court painter.
