This brick was excavated from a brick tomb discovered in the process of constructing Pyongyang Station in 1932. This tomb was designed with a rectangular space, and thus exhibits a style that is in transition from that of a brick tomb to that of a stone chamber tomb. According to the inscription, this tomb was "made by Chief Magistrate Tongli of Hanhyeon-do in Liaodong on the 10th day of the 3rd month in the 9th year of Yonghe" (永和九年三月十日遼東韓玄菟太守領佟利造). The 9th year of Yonghe corresponds to the year 353 and Tongli, the corpse of the tomb, is assumed to be related to Dongsu (冬壽), tomb No. 3 in Anak.
