This bronze artifact is called a samhwallyeong in Korean, literally meaning “three bronze bells on a loop.” The three small bells are connected to the loop located in the middle. Bells such as this are mostly unearthed from large ancient tombs of Silla and Gaya, which were constructed between the late 5th and early 6th centuries. This particular bell is a horse bell, and was used as a hook to connect the leather straps of the breast and the back.
