This coastal map was made by the Naval Department of Japan based on the modern measurement system. Mountainous regions were marked by transitional signs before the use of a contour line. For the coast, the points of the compass and water depths were marked. As this map was made for the purpose of invading Korea based on accurate measurements of coastlines, the names of inland areas were not recorded.
