This is a yellow glazed camel figurine, which was produced in the early Tang Dynasty. The demand for camels grew due to trade via the Silk Road, and many camels were introduced into China in the form of war trophies, tributes, or traded goods. Most of the unearthed camel figurines represent Bactrian (two-humped Asian) camels, while those representing dromedaries (single-humped Arabian camels) were imported from North Africa or India.
