This painting depicts a family scene in which a mother is spinning, a father is weaving a mat, and their child is reading a book. The boy’s holds a stick in his hand with which he proudly reads aloud what he has learned at school during the day. His parents know what they need to do to help their son continue being educated for his future. The painting provides a wonderful portrait of all the ordinary Korean families who struggle hard, now and in the past, to make their future brighter than today.
