Two Buddhist monks are begging for alms from passersby, while playing two different percussive instruments. A number of objects, probably paper talismans, are laid on out a mat spread before them. One of the two women passing by is taking out some money from her drawstring bag. The two men in monk’s robes may or may not Buddhist monks because in the 18th century itinerant street entertainers often dressed like monks to beg for alms.
