This is a rubbed copy of the epitaph on the monument to King Gwangaeto, which his son King Jangsu erected in 414 (the 3rd year of his reign) to honor his father’s accomplishments and designate the keeper of his father’s tomb. The epitaph also contains information on the origins of King Gwanggaeto’s family and the regulations for the tomb keeper to observe. Limestone powder was applied to the monument to make a clearer rubbed copy.
