These gilt-bronze shoes were unearthed from Tomb No. 9-B, Sinchon-ri, Naju, Jeollanam-do, which is the largest ancient tomb ever found in the area near the Yeongsangang River, in 1917. These shoes were made by joining the sole and the two sides. Diamond-shaped patterns cover the entire outer surface, including the bottom. Spikes measuring 1.5cm can be seen in the front bottom part of the soles. The upturned front part and the sides, which are composed of two sheets of plate, are typical of shoes made during the Baekje Period, including those unearthed from the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do and the Ancient Tomb in Ipjeom-ri, Iksan, Jeollabuk-do.
