This is a painting of the state examination for both civil and military service held in Gilju, Hamgyeong-do in 1664 (the 5th year of King Hyeonjong’s reign). It shows a scene of the announcement of the candidates who have passed the examination at the office in Hamheung, and includes a list of the names of the inspectors, including Kim Su-hang, and the successful candidates. The top of the painting is stamped with a red seal engraved with the name of Han Si-gak, suggesting that this is a copy of Han Si-gak’s painting in 1664. The work (Accession No. Deoksu 4065) exhibited in the National Museum of Korea is regarded as the original.
