This stupa was built to enshrine the relics of State Preceptor Hongbeop, a renowned Buddhist monk who was most active between the late Unified Silla and early Goryeo periods. The main body of the stupa exhibits a simple spherical form decorated with designs of strings tied in intersecting lines with centered floral ties. The ornamentation of the upper and lower platform stones feature elegant lotus designs, and the middle platform stone is elaborately decorated with a cloud and dragon design, attesting to the excellence of Goryeo culture.
