This set of nineteen gold plaques, discovered during the dismantling and restoration of the Five-story Stone Pagoda in Wanggung-ri, Iksan in 1965, contains an incised inscription of the Diamond Sutra. Each plaque bears an inscription consisting of 289 characters aligned in seventeen lines of “manuscript script.” The plaques are hinged together and designed to be bound with thin gold bands.
