This gilt-bronze standing Bodhisattva is making the gesture of the “dispelling of fear mudra” with its right hand, while holding a kundika in its left hand. It seems that the “metamorphosed Buddha” inscribed on the front side of the crown indicates that it is a statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Overall, this statue follows the tradition of the statues of Bodhisattva produced towards the end of the Three Kingdoms Period. However, its solid, well-proportioned body displays the characteristics of the Buddhist statues made in the 8th century in Unified Silla.
