This white porcelain jar decorated with a design in copper red underglaze displays the upright mouth with a curled lip, a nicely inflated shoulder, and slim waist characteristic of products of the kilns outside the capital of Joseon. Its attractively curved line running from the mouth to the foot has been widely praised. Jars of this type are known to have entered production in the late 17th century, reaching the zenith of their popularity in the following century.
