This calligraphic work is believed to be a transcription by Kil Jae (pen-name: Yaeun) of a poem by Li She of the Tang Dynasty, which describes of the pleasant feelings aroused by a warm spring day. Kil Jae was a Confucian scholar at the end of the Goryeo Period. His method of academic learning and the importance he attached to practice were inherited by Kim Goeng-pil, Jeong Yeo-chang, Jo Gwang-jo, Kim Sukja (1389-1456) and his son Kim Jong-jik, and later became a general trend among Confucian scholars in the 16th century during the early Joseon Period.
