This is a comprehensive collection containing printed copies of poems and prose works by King Jeongjo. The compilation work was participated in by royal secretariats and other officials in charge of the management of royal instructions. The first such collection was published during the reign of King Injo (r. 1623-1649). During the reign of King Sukjong (r. 1674-1720) and thereafter, such collections of articles written by the preceding king were compiled at the beginning of a new king’s reign, and attached to the end of previous collections.
