This royal edict was issued in 1425 (the 7th year of King Sejong’s reign) to appoint Jo Heup (?-1429), a military official of the Joseon Dynasty, as the commander of a military unit. Documents such as this were used at the end of the Goryeo Period and in the early Joseon Period by kings; indeed, this edict contains the impression of a royal seal.
