This is a roof-end tile with a demon face design typical of the tiles made during the Goguryeo Period. It is presumed that such designs were prevalent from the mid-Goguryeo Period onward, as they have been unearthed mostly in Pyeongyang, the former capital city of Goguryeo. Roof tiles with demon face designs leave the impression of a powerful force on people. The wide-open eyes, warts on the eyelashes, upturned whiskers, and gaping mouth radiate the exuberant dynamism of Goguryeo.
