This divinity, which is seated on a lotus flower that is growing out of the water, is Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu, who is the Hindu goddess of wealth and luck, and the embodiment of beauty. The lotus held in her hand symbolizes her beauty. The ornaments along the edges and the decorative design on the upper part of the painting show that the painting had been highly stylized.
