These poems were written by Yi Hwang in the printed, semi-cursive and cursive scripts, creating an atmosphere of elegance, influenced by the printed style of Wang Xizhi of China. As both a renowned philosopher and a calligrapher in the 16th century, Yi Hwang tried to bring some changes to the art of calligraphy by shifting away from the Songxue style of Zhao Mengfu of the Yuan Dynasty. Despite the partial disappearance of some of the writings, this shows his interest in various calligraphic writing styles.
