Gijaji (Record of Gija) was compiled by Confucian scholars in the Pyeongyang area, including Jeong In-gi and Yi Son-yeong. It is a collection of historical facts and commentaries about Gija gleaned from diverse sources such as the Confucian classics, history books, poems and tombstone epithets. During the Joseon Period, Confucian scholars upheld Gija as a symbol of Confucian culture and Sino-centricity and as a figure who put the ideals of virtue-based and Daoism-based politics into practice.
