Ijollok (Record of Respected Ancestors) was compiled by Kim Jong-jik (1431-1492), a scholar of the early Joseon Period, as a history of his family, including the lives of his father Kim Suk-ja (1389-1456) and his grandfather-in-law Park Hong-sin. It also contains stories about a number of well-known scholars who were close to him, including Hwang Hui, Byeon Gye-ryang, and Heo Jo. As Kim Jong-jik was a central figure among Confucian scholars in Yeongnam, this book is a good source material for those studying the development of neo-Confucianism in the early Joseon Period.
