This copy of the mural painted on the northern wall in the burial chamber of the Ssangyeongchong Tomb depicts an aristocratic couple, probably the tomb’s occupants, seated in a palatial house attended by their male and female servants and a pair of Black Tortoises. These symbolic creatures have a large, clearly delineated shell and a long neck covered with neatly arranged scales.
