This book contains basic guidelines about rites for condolatory occasions, including funeral procedures. It was written by Shin Ui-gyeong, a scholar of the late Joseon Period, based on Lijing (Classic of Rites) and other scholars’ commentaries. The compiler’s opinions were also included in some sections. Due to its pertinent explanations of important points, it became an important material on the four basic rites of passage (i.e., coming-of-age, wedding, funeral, and ancestral ceremonies).
