Memorial tablets were buried as funerary objects after being inscribed with an epitaph concerning the lifetime achievements and ancestry of the deceased. These eighteen porcelain plates are the memorial tablets of Yi Su-gwang (1563-1628), a great Confucian scholar of the mid-Joseon Period. The contents were composed by Kim Sang-heon (1570-1652) in 1633. The contents on the last plate explain that the epitaph was composed in the 6th Sungjeong Year, which falls in 1633, so these memorial tablets are presumed to have been produced sometime thereafter.
