This atlas contains a map of China drawn up in a circular form, and maps of other countries, including a map of the eight provinces of Joseon (Korea). It describes China as the center of the world, with the earth portrayed as a rectangle and the sky as a circle. The map of China also lists the names of earlier Chinese dynasties and ancient place names around the country. The maps of Japan and Ryukyu are very brief and crude.
The rectangular depiction of the earth places China at the center of the world, while the circle surrounding the rectangle indicates the sky, including the 28 constellations, whose coordinates are given on the rear side of the map.
The Junggukdo (Map of China) looks similar to the one made by Kim Su-hong (1601-1681). It lists the names of previous Chinese dynasties and ancient place names in the country. It also contains a map of Shengjing and Manchuria. The map of Joseon (Korea) contains maps of Korean provinces similar to Dongnamdo (Atlas of Korea) of Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam (Augmented Survey of the Geography of the Eastern Kingdom). The margin of the map contains a brief history of earlier Korean dynasties.
