This book was written as a practical comprehensive guide to the four important rites by Yi Jae (1680-1746), a civil official and scholar in the late Joseon Dynasty. Referring to the system of Sangnyebiyo, Guide to the Funeral Rite, by Kim Jang-saeng, who specialized in the study of rituals, he added both the coming-of-age ceremony and the wedding ceremony, and also referred to other theories. It is thought to be the most widely distributed book on the four rites during the late Joseon Dynasty. This edition was printed using woodblocks and issued in 1844.
