A parasol was usually held by a servant for his master either during a rite or when the master was out on a trip. These gilt-bronze parasol ornaments were used to fix the cloth to the ribs of a parasol, and are usually found in Lelang tombs. It is presumed that they were part of a burial object intended to display the social status of the buried.
