This painting of the family villa of Jeong Yeo-chang, a great Neo-Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty, was produced by Yi Jing in 1643. Worrying about the possible decay of the villa formerly inhabited by Jeong Yeo-chang, the Jeong Family asked Yi Jing to leave a painting of the villa. Yi based the painting on a wide range of records, without actually visiting it himself. The title of this painting, reading An Old House in Hwagae-hyeon, is written in the seal script at the top. The bottom contains poems composed by Jeong Yeo-chang and Yu Ho-in, phrases taken from the writings of Jo Sik and Jeong Gu, and a postscript by Shin Ik-seong.
