This woodblock was used to decorate a book cover with water chestnut flower designs. The design used for this type of woodblock changed according to the era. This woodblock contains two large circles between a geometric pattern in which a large grapevine, the Buddhist cross (or Buddhist Swastica卍, meaning auspiciousness), and the Chinese character “福” (meaning blessing) are combined.
