This gilt-bronze statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva was discovered in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. It wears a veil robe around its shoulders, and a beaded adornment and necklace around its neck. The statue’s large number of body accessories and its upright stance show that the typical characteristics of Buddhist statues produced in the Three Kingdoms Period had been preserved, even though its carving technique suggests that it was made during the period of transition to Unified Silla.
