This gilt-bronze standing Buddha was excavated from the temple site in Seonsan-gun (present-day Gumi), Gyeongsangbuk-do, along with two gilt-bronze standing Bodhisattvas dating back to the Three Kingdoms Period. This statue is relatively large compared to other gilt-bronze Buddha statues produced in the Unified Silla Period. This statue is thought to have been made prior to the formalization of gilt-bronze Buddha statues with Y-shaped robe folds, i.e., like those represented by the standing Amitabha Buddha of Gamsansa Temple.
