The expression “Cheonchu manse” (千秋萬歲), which literally means ‘a thousand autumns and ten thousand years,’ was frequently employed when wishing for health and good fortune during the Han Dynasty of China. Roof tiles and bricks containing this common expression have been found near Pyongyang, which was in the central region of the Lelang Commandery, and near Jilin, which was the royal capital of Goguryeo in the early days of the kingdom.
