This is a rubbed copy of the Stele for Buddhist Monk Jingong at Heungbeopsa Temple site. Born into a noble family, Jingong was a Seon Master in the Later Three Kingdoms period who went to China to study and was honored by the founder of the Goryeo Dynasty, King Taejo. This stele is very important for the study of the characteristics of monuments in the early Goryeo Dynasty and political trends during the earlier years of King Taejo’s reign.
