The form of this incense burner imitates that of a gui, a bronze ritual vessel used for storing grain during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties of China. The mouth opens slightly outward and the body is somewhat plump. The two side lugs connecting the neck and the body take the form of an elephant, and a round hook is attached below each one. The evenly applied gloss celadon glaze takes on a green hue known as maejacheong.
