This is a rubbed copy of the inscription on a stone monument called Inyangsabi (Treasure No. 227), which was erected to commemorate the construction of Inyangsa Temple in Changnyeong. The contents of the inscription include matters concerning the construction or repair of pagodas and the prayer hall in the temple over the approximately forty years between 771 (the seventh year of King Hyegong’s reign) and 810 (the second year of King Heondeok’s reign) during the Unified Silla period. The contents also cover the religious asceticism that Buddhist monks practiced and matters concerning the early Chan Buddhism of China.
