This is a rubbed copy of the stele for State Preceptor Daegak (also known as Uicheon), the founder of the Cheontae Order of Goryeo Buddhism and a revered monk of the Avatamsaka Sect of Buddhism. The stele is located at the Yeongtongsa Temple site in Gaeseong, North Korea. The inscriptions concern the life of Daegak, a son of King Munjong of Goryeo, who became a monk. It also includes a list of the people mobilized to build the stele. It illustrates the typical artistry of a stone stele dating to the early Goryeo period.
