This painting by Shin Gwang-hyeon (1813-?), a prominent poet, writer and painter of the late Joseon period, depicts a boy with a pinwheel calling a dog in front of a house. Notably, signs of Western influence are apparent. The boy, dog, and the shadow behind the pillars have attracted a great deal of interest since such details are rarely found in works by other Korean painters influenced by the Western painting style.
