Given the style of this work entitled Sasipalgyeongdo, or Eight Views of the Four Seasons, it appears to be one of the earliest paintings by the renowned early Joseon artist An Gyeon. It includes eight panels, respectively depicting a scene from early spring, late spring, early summer, late summer, early fall, late fall, early winter, and late winter. The seasonal progression is vividly depicted using different styles of brush strokes and ink treatments. This example displays the typical style of the An Gyeon school of painting during the early Joseon Dynasty.
